Russian Railways raises grain transportation tariff by 13.4%
MOSCOW, Dec 24 (PRIME) -- Russian Railways has imposed a 13.4% markup to a tariff for grain transportations for export, as seen by PRIME in the company’s materials Wednesday.
“The additional coefficient is imposed under regulations for tariff increase in the framework of pricing limits due to restricted infrastructure capacities,” a representative for the company told PRIME.
According to the company’s materials, the extra charge will come in force in a month.
Currently, an extra charge of the same size is imposed by the company only on oil product transportation. In 2014, Russian Railways received the right to differentiate tariffs within the tariff corridor, under which it may cut tariffs by 12.8% or raise them by 13.4%.
On December 19, Russia’s National Association of Exporters of Agricultural Products said exporters have stopped buying Russian grain until prices and supply stabilize. On December 18, Russian Railways limited grain loading for exports, while veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog toughened requirements for exported grain.
